Foxborough Village Association

A website only one person could edit, rebuilt into one the whole board can run.

Before and after: a hand-coded 2009 website only its original builder could edit, versus a self-serve site the HOA board updates themselves on hosting that costs nothing

From a page only one person could touch, to a site the whole board can run — hosted free, forever.

Foxborough Village Association is a 374-unit townhome and single-family community in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Their website hadn't meaningfully changed since around 2009 — a hand-coded page only its original builder knew how to touch. Posting a news update, changing the meeting date, or adding a photo meant editing raw code nobody currently on the board actually understood. If that one person ever became unreachable, the board would have been locked out of their own site with no way back in.

What We Built

  • Rebuilt the site around the community's own entrance sign — the same colors, the same understated look residents already recognize driving in — instead of dropping in a generic template
  • Gave the board a simple dashboard to post news, update the meeting calendar, and swap photos themselves, with no code and no developer to call
  • Added four self-serve forms — resident sign-up, general contact, maintenance requests, and architectural review applications — that land straight in an inbox the board already checks
  • Put the whole site on hosting that's genuinely free, not a trial that quietly expires, so there's no bill for a volunteer board to remember to pay
  • Hardened it for security and checked every page against accessibility standards, so residents on any device — phone, laptop, screen reader — can use it without friction

The Result

The board can now run their own website — post an update, change a date, add a photo — without touching code or waiting on anyone. Every sign-up, maintenance request, and ARC application now arrives directly in an inbox the board already watches, instead of getting lost in an outdated form or a missed phone call. And because hosting costs nothing, there's no line item that can quietly lapse and take the site down with it. The full rebuild — design, build, and testing — was delivered in two days, at no cost, as a pro bono build for the community.

Why It Matters

A community website doesn't need to be flashy — it needs to still be there, and still be editable, no matter who's on the board five years from now. Building it on tools a volunteer can actually use, and hosting that doesn't depend on someone remembering to pay a bill, is what lets a site like this outlast board turnover instead of quietly rotting the way the old one did.
